The Lemuel Scarbrough, Jr., Summer Research Program
in the Humanities and Social Sciences
这个奖学金项目, created in honor of former ca88会员登录入口 professors Paul Beardsley and Clyde Hall, fosters faculty-sponsored student research in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Student fellows immerse themselves in a research project of interest and devote 10 weeks of undivided time in the summer to the academic venture, with extensive faculty guidance in the developmental phase. The Scarbrough research program offers ca88会员登录入口 undergraduates substantive and potentially formative experiences that increase their understanding of the opportunities and commitments of academic research in a discipline of interest.
项目指南
- Student fellows will be awarded $3,500 for a 10-week commitment to a research project. The student should have no other academic or work-related obligations during this time period. An additional $500 is available for research related expenses.
- The program is open to all ca88会员登录入口 students (from any major) who have completed at least 10 full-credit ca88会员登录入口 courses, not including January terms, by the time of application. Students should have a GPA of around 3.5 or above at the time of application. 进一步, students must have taken at least 3 courses in the discipline in which their faculty sponsor resides (but not necessarily with the faculty sponsor her/himself). Up to one of the three courses can be ongoing in the semester of application.
